As I look back over my 25-year career as a doctor and the five
years I spent as a medical student, I often find it amusing,
and honestly, a little disheartening, how little we were taught
about how the human body actually functions in motion.
We studied anatomy in detail. We memorised the names of muscles,
bones, and nerves. We learned all about pathology, what can
go wrong with joints, and how to manage it with medication,
injections, or surgery. But in over three decades of training
and practice, do you know what I was never taught?
Posture.
Movement.
Alignment.
And the vital role they play in health.
I was taught nothing about physiotherapy, physical therapy,
osteopathy, chiropractic work, or other so-called "alternative"
practices, all of which can play a huge role in restoring balance
and function in the human body.
The truth is, the body is beautifully designed, from the cervical
and lumbar curves to the thoracic and sacral ones, every part
of us is built with intention. Form follows function, and function
follows form. And when that form is compromised, through disuse,
modern lifestyles, poor movement, lack of sunlight, grounding,
or disrupted circadian rhythms, the knock-on effects are immense.
The body compensates. It adapts. But over time, those compensations
lead to pain, dysfunction, and disease.
This is where Caroline Clark comes in.
Caroline is a Postural Alignment Specialist who doesn't just
teach movement, she teaches reconnection. Through one-to-one
sessions and her uplifting, empowering group classes, she helps
people of all ages restore their body's original blueprint.
She helps retrain the muscles so they move the bones back into
balance. She helps you feel better in your own body.
Her book is a welcome addition to the world of wellness. It's
practical, inspiring, and based on real experience. And if you
ever take one of her classes, you'll quickly discover muscles
you never knew existed, and, more importantly, you'll remember
how good your body is supposed to feel.
Caroline brings fun back into movement, and depth back into
health.
Enjoy this book. It might just change the way you live in your
body.
